Materials: 1.5 skeins of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes (Worsted Weight– 110 yards/50 grams); Size US 7 needles (16 inch circular and double points)

Pattern Origin: A TV program on NHK (Japanese version of PBS)

This is a hat knit in the round from the bottom up. As the stitches decrease and it’s harder to knit in the round, switch to double pointed needles

Cast on 96 stitches on size 7 needles

Start Ribbing– P2, K2 for 28 rows

Row 1: Turn hat inside out; yarn over, knit to last two stitches, ssk
Row 2-4: Knit
Row 5: (k7, p1) x12
Row 6: (P1, k5, p1, k1) x12
Row 7: (k1, p1, k3, p1, k1, p1) x12
Row 8: (p1, k1) x48
Row 9: (k1, p1) x48
Row 10: (p1, k1) x48

Row 12: (k2, p1, k1, p1, k3) x12
