#19 — Golden Age: A Novel

Golden Age: A Novel by Jane Smiley

Rating: 3/5

  • All things have to come to an end and get wrapped up; I’m not sure I’ve ever read the last book of a trilogy and thought it was the strongest book of the three
  • There are too many people to keep track of. While I remember the original family pretty well, by the time I got to the grandchildren and their kids, I didn’t really care that much
  • The book takes us from 1987 to 2019. History is always an interpretation of what happened by the people writing it and I never felt it more when I was reading about the more recent events
  • The future portion of the story got weird and don’t think it added anything
