  • A NPR endorsement and immediate availability at the local library made reading the book seem like a really good idea at the time
  • The story is about a young woman struggling with weight and maintaining a healthy self-image. She makes her living by writing responses to letters sent to an editor of a women’s magazine. The inquires are made by a young, vulnerable, teenage readership. Crazy adventures ensue from there
  • While applauding the intent and attempt, the final product left something to be desired. I felt the author was protesting a little bit too loudly that it was a feminist book, that it was anti chick-lit. Rather than feeling supportive, I felt annoyed
