Where: 150 Ainslie Street, Brooklyn NY 11211 (between Leonard and Lorimer)

  • Showed up at 10 a.m. and was told there was an hour and 15 minute wait. We put our names in and walked 15 minutes to Nassau street, sat in the Dunkin Donuts and drank hot tea until we got the call saying a table was ready. We were seated almost exactly to the minute of what was estimated — impressive!
  • Got a choice of one of three fish available; the rest of the food was typical Japanese breakfast food (rice, miso, pickled vegetables) with a slight American twist, since they use local ingredients. For $2.50 extra, we can have a poached egg to stir into the rice
  • The space is cozy and not too expensive for what you get; it’s very light so people who are used to heavy, substantial breakfasts may end up leaving hungry but ultimately satisfied
