NYCRuns Frozen Bonsai Half Marathon (12.13.15)

2015 Frozen Bonsai

Course: 3 counter-clockwise loops around Central Park. Started and ended at 102nd street. The last loop included the big hill at the northern most part of the park.

Weather: mid-fifties to low-sixties by race end

Pace: 11:18/mile

  • There is nothing frozen about this race; ran in t-shirt and shorts and still felt hot
  • There weren’t enough water stations to accommodate the hot weather; there was one station (the southwest side) that ran out of cups, so the poor teenagers at the water station were offering us gallon jugs of water to drink out of, which was nice of them but kind of gross
  • This is the first year since I’ve started to run that I didn’t sign up for the NYC marathon. As a result I’ve been slacking a bit. Today I felt the consequences of my complacency. Felt like an old, old, out of shape lady
  • The post-race spread of bagels and cream cheese, strawberries and hot chocolate never disappoints. The long-sleeve tech shirt is nice, but is beyond hideous
