Run the Reservoir Half Marathon (09.13.15)

Run the Reservoir 2015

  • Course: in the town of Westwood NJ and around their reservoir
  • Weather: 80s with 90% humidity
  • Pace: 10:19/mile
  • A hard race to get to without a car from NYC; rented a car in Fort Lee — from there, it only took 20 minutes. Packet pick up started at 7 a.m. for a race that started at 8:45, but it was best to get there early because the parking lot fills up fast
  • Water was provided at almost every mile which was critical, due to the heat. The trail around the reservoir provided nice views, dirt roads, and shade for half of the course. The rest of the course was around town without much shade, which would be fine if it wasn’t so uncharacteristically hot
  • Instead of a medal or t-shirt, they had fleeces — nice! Way to mix it up
  • Post-race offerings were a little sad — bananas and cut up oranges. There was a diner nearby, so we went there immediately afterwards and stuffed ourselves
