#44 — Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage

Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage by Murakami Haruki

  • Rating: 4/5
  • Simple and easy on the surface, but with underlying complexity
  • Not as overtly strange as his other novels but not completely grounded in realism either
  • What’s real, what is a dream, and what is supernatural is ambiguous — the tension created in not knowing, and anticipating when and if the story will take a turn towards the weird is what made it interesting for me. He controlled himself this time
