Twin Lobster Half Marathon (6.7.15)

Twin Lobster Half 2015

  • Course: near Rockport MA, in a town called Gloucester. Starts at the High School, goes through town and along the water, then through some private neighborhoods, and loops back.
  • Weather: 59F
  • Pace: 9:39/mile (PR)
  • There was no packet pick-up the day before, but it was a very small race (683 runners total) so it wasn’t a big deal
  • There was a one-miler before the race, so we got to see that before our race started; watching the little kids finish was fun
  • The course was hillier than I was used to and there wasn’t much shade on the course at all — however, the view was spectacular and the sea breezes off the coast really made a difference
  • There wasn’t much water on the course. NYRR spoils you with water stations at every mile and lots of bathrooms. That being said, I didn’t suffer as much as I had thought I was going to — ended up PR-ing, which was unexpected
  • Had a very small-town feel to it — everybody seemed to know everyone. There were two women dressed up like twin lobsters which I commend, since it was so hot
  • The Advil samples in the goodie bag were expired by a lot, but the post-race offerings were varied and plentiful
