#28 — The Story of the Human Body

The Story of the Human Body: Evolution, Health and Disease by Daniel Lieberman

  • Rating: 4/5
  • An extensive account of how humans evolved to take over the world, but how those adaptations can’t catch up to a rapidly changing environment, resulting in new illnesses and conditions
  • Part One is about apes and all of the stuff in between before we get to humans; it’s a little boring
  • Part Two and Three is about the consequences of evolution in the modern day. This section was a lot more interesting because it’s about humans and I’m self-centered
  • Had a lot of interesting theories on what we can do to reverse or mitigate the effects of “mismatch” diseases
