Mr. Chow’s

Where: 121 Hudson Street (between N. Moore and Beach St, aka way the hell on the southwest side)

  • Confirms that high-end Chinese does exist in the US; however, more expensive doesn’t mean more delicious
  • The water dumplings were good, but any dive in Chinatown has better soup dumplings for a fraction of the price. The main dishes were good but over-salted — probably made that way so you’ll eat more rice and feel fuller — the portions were really small
  • The waiter forgot one of our dishes but owned up to it, apologized, and we got it for free — bonus!
  • The bathroom was gross and a sharp contrast to the rest of the decor — it was marble but cracked in places; it reminded me of the bathrooms at the 34th street Macy’s
